Mantra Series
Nowadays I love to meditate; but that wasn’t always the case. In the past, I struggled with it. My thoughts jumped everywhere - that monkey mind you’ve probably encountered if you’ve tried to silently meditate. I couldn’t get my mind to settle down and be quiet long enough for the meditation to be successful. I then tried guided meditations where you sit and listen to someone else guide you through a meditative state via a story-like encounter. Unfortunately, these guided meditations made me very sleepy and I would get lost in the meditation as the speaker’s voice went in and out of my consciousness. I had practically given up on ever being able to meditate until I moved to Asia. There I discovered Kundalini Yoga and Bhakti Yoga. Through these avenues I was introduced to mantra as a meditative tool. Now you may be wondering how on earth can you meditate whilst you are muttering on? Well, you see, that’s just it. The mantra becomes the focal point pulling your usually busy mind toward something repeated allowing your mind to let go into the mantra for a very nice meditation.
In this Mantra Series I will cover how mantra works as a meditation tool, why it is my preferred method of meditation, as well as several all-time favorite mantras, their benefits, and uses. Stay tuned to this spot for more on mantra.
